E3 2013 Nintendo Wiiu Preview

Well let's be honest, it hasn't been pretty for wiiu. Sure they don't have the most powerful system, but as any gamer will tell you; it's all about the games. They had the golden opportunity of releasing their newest console entry one full year ahead of xbox and ps4.  Even with that advantage they blew it. They have had a bunch of missed release dates, and dwindling 3rd party support.  A FULL YEAR HEAD START!

Things look pretty dire in Nintendo and if they want to  get out of this they will have to do it with games. They will have to bring out the big guns.  What's perplexing is that this year Nintendo won't show be having a big conference showing and instead has opted to show all their new goods through Nintendo Direct. I would have thought it would have been better to have a show to get the audience reaction, but the Big N is a company that zigs when others zag. So far these are the confirmed titles the are showing:

• Super Smash Bros.
• Super Mario
• The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
• Mario Kart
• Pikmin 3
• New Super Luigi U
• Bayonetta 2
• Sonic Lost World
• The Wonderful 101

Not a bad list really but they will need a big surprise title. It has also been rumored that Retro games will have a killer title to show. You can find various rumors everywhere stating that this rumored title could be either a new Metroid or even a new Startropics. As for me I am really hoping for a brand spanking new StarFox. I think a new Starfox, if done right, could be the system seller they need. Besides that maybe a Pokemon WiiU or maybe also a new Yoshi's Story? I think we will also get a small peak of the next new Zelda title, maybe a picture or a vid of it. And probably a surprise new IP from Miyamoto that he has been working on. If they can have concrete dates for all these reveals maybe they can get back in the console race.

E3 2013 Sony Playstation Predictions

E3 holds a very special place in my heart because it has given me a lot of great thrills due to the fact of the immense amount of gaming news that comes out in just one short week.   But also it can break your heart for example if your favorite game company just takes a shameful bellyflop in their conference  With that in mind, we gamers already know what's going to be announced with more detail, like Infamous, Killzone, etc...  But question is, what do I want to see in this years Sony conference?  Well I thought you would never ask:


•  Anything God of War.  Sure we got Ascension this year but, its like only having one scoop of your favorite ice cream on a cone.  Hopefully something that continues Kratos quest from GOW 3.

•  Heck anything new from Santa Monica Studios would be awesome.

•  At least 1 terabyte of HD space.  God knows I need it now.

•  Uncharted 4.  What can I say I'm a Naughty Dog fiend.

•  Please give us the price that day, and I hope that price does not exceed $300 bucks.

•  A PSN overhaul to fix all its quirks, and that goes the same for the Playstation XMB menu system.

I feel like a kid right now asking Santa for cool toys, and I can only hope I was good enough this year to make ol' kris Kringle grant my wishes true.

E3 2013 Microsoft Conference Predictions

I for one am not looking forward to the Xbox One, or "Xbone" as others have been calling it now. Mostly because its a glorified cable box with little focus on the games. Now, with confirmation about the online DRM and countless other anti-consumer practices (no renting, lending or private sales)  I have absolutely no hope for this console. I don't even think any games can ever persuade me to buy one. What is Microsoft going to show at this years E3? They already said that they have at least 15 exclusive titles and 8 of which are new IPs. I can only assume that there's going to be yet another Halo game and several other shooters and a couple of family friendly titles from Rare. Hopefully these games show what this console can do. Maybe have these titles run at 1080P and in 60FPS like the new Forza. I'm guessing that EA will announce Respawn's multiplatform next gen shooter over at MS' conference.

Here's what I want to see in their press conference: a game (or multiple games), where I have complete control of the gameplay. No unskippable cutscene interuptions, no handholding, more focus on the gameplay, and none of that accessible stuff that so many other games have been doing this past gen. You know, like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. But who am I kidding of course they're going to have games like that next gen. It wouldn't be modern game design if they just want to tell some sort of "emotional story" with little control over the game and an "enthralling experience" complete with countless unskippable cutscenes used to break the pacing of the game. And I wouldn't be surprised if Sony's games does the same thing when it comes to game design. But I really hope they do keep this whole story telling thing to a minimum next gen.
