Frank Miller Gives Sin City 2 Updates

Frank Miller gave an update at NYCC about what Sin City 2.  He says that the film will focus on A Dame to Kill For, Just Another Saturday Night, and two short stories that will bridge the first movie with this one and that filming will most likely start in Spring 2012.  Miller confirmed that both Marv and Nancy will be featured in the film.  Does that mean Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, and the others will be returning for Sin City 2 since characters like Gail, Manute, and Miho appear in said stories?  Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Metallica Going 3D

Metallica has hired producer Charlotte Huggins to produce their self-financed Metallica 3D movie, reports Deadline.  Huggins is known for producing Journey to the Center of the Earth and the just completed sequel Journey 2: The Mystery Island starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.  Metallica last appeared on film in Metallica: Some kind of Monster which chronicled the "bands attempt to mend discord through intensive therapy."

Why does the music sound something out of Castlevania? Oh yeah, that's because the game's music is composed by Michiru Yamane, the same person who has composed the music for a lot of the Castlevania games since the 90's.

Ben Affleck to Take THE STAND

Deadline is reporting that WB has chosen Ben Affleck to direct Stephen King's apocalyptic, good versus evil novel The Stand.  Affleck has directed the gritty movies like The Town and Gone Baby Gone which have done very well.  WB also thinks very highly of Affleck's ability to be a director.  Stephen King, though, is hesitant on the idea of The Stand being made into a feature film.  The Stand was previously a mini series on ABC back in 1994 and starred Gary Senise, Rob Lowe, and Molly Ringwald with Stephen King writing the teleplay and having a cameo appearance.

Batman: Arkham City Having DLC Launch Problems

Apparently about half of the gamers who bought Arkham City who were looking to redeem their DLC codes are running into problems. When they enter their DLC codes on PSN and XBL, it'll say that it has been redeemed already or that it is corrupted. Some gamers are also saying they didn't get the code at all. If anyone is experiencing any of these problems they can contact Warner Bros. Entertainment here.

Bryan Singer's Battlestar Galactica Looking Good for Take-Off

Deadline is reporting that Bryan Singer's Battlestar Galactica movie seems to be heading for take-off.  It seems Universal Studios is nearing a deal to have John Orloff write the BG movie.  Orloff has written movies like Anonymous, A Mighty Heart, and Legend of the Guardian: The Owls of Ga'Hoole.

I'm sure Battlestar Galactica fans are happy with this news.

The Flowers of War Trailer

Here is a look at Christian Bale's next movie The Flowers of War.  The movie is roughly 60% Mandarin and 40% English.  Looks pretty epic.  Too bad he can't be Batman in every movie he comes out in.

The Punisher is Coming to FOX

In a surprise move, FOX has picked up a "put pilot commitment" for a Punisher television series.  It is surprising because you would think that Disney/Marvel would want one of their properties on a channel they own like ABC or ABC Family.  Regardless of where it airs, this Punisher will be tweaked a bit where Frank Castle is a up and coming New York City detective who "moonlights as the vigilante Punisher, seeking justice for those the system has failed" instead of a military vet who makes The Punisher his full-time job.

FOX's last comic book-based series was The Human Target.  They are also currently producing a series based on DC's The Spectre.

Marvel Lays Off Several Staff Members **UPDATE**

CBR is reporting that earlier today Marvel laid off 11 staff members from their editorial and production departments.  Most notably getting laid off are editor Jody LeHeup (Deadpool, X-Force) and Production artist Damien Lucchese.

Is this The House of Mickey's way of starting to cut back on Marvel's resources so they can start licensing off their characters to other companies?  Disney is known for not producing comics of their own but rather licensing them off to other companies to produce them.  Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens to Marvel in the next couple of years.

Boogie Movie Review: Batman: Year One

Batman: Year One
Directed by: Sam Liu and Lauren Montgomery
Release date: October 18, 2011
Starring:  Ben McKenzie, Bryan Cranston, Eliza Dushku, Katee Sackhoff, Grey DeLisle
Studio:  Warner Premiere

Warner Premiere has done another solid job with the latest entry into the DCU's animated movies line.  Batman: Year One delivers a straight forward adaptation to Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's work.

Thank You Mark Hamill

Mark Hamill announced via his Twitter account that with Batman: Arkham City out in stores, he is retiring from voicing the Joker.  Hamill had said last year that voicing the Joker in Batman: Arkham City would be the last time he would voice him.  I guess he has stuck to his guns.  He has been voicing the Joker for 19 years and has become synonymous with portraying the character as Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger are.

Videogame Projects I Would Like to See - A Gamer's Fantasy!

It's a great time to be a gamer now, but sometimes I think of what has been and what could be.  I think of what games I have enjoyed now and in the past. Of the gaming experiences I feel is missing and what ideas I have to improve games.  I am just a gamer like you with no real influence on the industry but hopefully somebody out there is reading and makes one of these dreams a reality. With that said, right now I would like to just dream for a second...

-If I could have my nerd dreams realized I would want a new Starfox.  But it would go back to its dog-fighting roots. No more tank levels, no more FPS levels. Straight space dog-fighting in HD! Slippy needing saving, Falco being a prick, and Starfox saving the day once again.

Marvel has released a deleted scene of Captain America: The First Avenger's which features Bucky, The Howling Commandos, and Steve Rogers fighting in a trench during WWII.  Captain America: The First Avenger will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 25th.  This deleted scene will be a part of the release.

Assassin's Creed's Ezio in Soul Calibur 5?

This picture was taken in a recent SC5 beta tournament. I don't know if this is real or someone used photoshop on an old picture. I hope it is real. I've never seen that character art of Ezio Auditore before and it looks like its made by the same artist who did the SC art. Ezio being in the Soul Calibur universe would make much more sense than this:

IGN has confirmed that the long awaited Playstation Vita will be available in North America, Australia, Latin America, and Europe on February 22, 2012.  That isn't a long time to wait.  At least it's not coming out in the Summer.  Japan, on the other hand, is getting the PS Vita this December.  So start saving up your pennies!

Dexter Comic Book Series is Coming

This New York Comic Con was filled with many great news coming out of it.  New scenes from the Avengers were screened, an Amazing Spider-Man game was announced, and that Batman Earth One and Superman Earth One Vol. 2 were on their way next year.  But for me, the best news to come out of the NYCC was the one Joe Quesada made during the Cup O' Joe panel.  Quesada announced that Marvel will be working on a Dexter comic series with Dexter author and creator Jeff Lindsay writing all new adventures for "America's Favorite Serial Killer."  The series starts sometime in 2012.  An artist for the series hasn't been announced.

The latest Dexter season is currently airing on Showtime.  Lindsay's latest Dexter story is titled "Double Dexter" and now available.

With the Dexter television series' future still uncertain after this season, it is great knowing that Dexter and his Dark Passenger will be out there still carving out justice.

The Dark Knight Rises to Occupy Wall Street

Christopher Nolan and company are moving The Dark Knight Rises filming to New York starting October 29th and might include the Occupy Wall Street protests into the movie.  Nolan won't be changing the script just to include the Occupy Wall Street protesters but will most likely use them as backdrop for the movie.

But using a real-life location like the Occupy Wall Street protests — particularly in the city nicknamed Gotham — would add an element of gritty authenticity to 'Rises." It also would fit with the franchise's preoccupation with themes of urban order and civil unrest, which "Dark Knight" explored at length.

The Dark Knight Rises reaches theaters on July 20, 2012 and stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Tom Hardy, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Uncharted 3 won't have Single Player DLC

In an interview with Eurogamer, Naughty Dog has stated that Uncharted 3 won't have any single player DLC, just multiplayer DLC.
We'd rather build out another game than we would do episodic content.
We're so small that we can't afford to have a whole team working on DLC.
That's why we don't do it, we'd much rather be working on the next game, producing the game quickly and having people play another adventure.
I'm okay with this. I'd rather have them work on a new game and and making the gameplay better instead of extending Uncharted 3's single player mode.

Transformers 4 & 5 to Film Back-to-Back and Get CRANKed?

To add what we reported earlier, Variety is now reporting that Michael Bay would be interested in filming a Transformers 4 and 5 back-to back.  It is also being reported that Shia LaBeouf will not be returning to the franchise as he has said that he is done with Transformers.  A name being mentioned to take over the franchise is Jason Statham.  There hasn't been any formal offers made to Statham at the moment.  If they were to go ahead and film Transformers back-to-back, they wouldn't start filming until late 2012 giving Michael By time to work on another project and Hasbro time to design new Transformers action figures.  Transformers: Dark of the Moon made $1.1 billion worldwide, earning the fourth spot on the worldwide box office list.
