Justice League: Doom is based on Mark Waid's JLA story Tower of Babel where eco-terrorist Ra's al Ghul steals Batman's secret plans to take down the Justice League in case they ever went rogue.  Ra's puts Batman's plans into play to immobilize the JLA allowing him to try and take over the world.

Ray Liotta was Considered for Burton's Batman?

When speaking to The Playlist, Ray Liotta revealed that he had passed up a "unique opportunity" to meet with Tim Burton about playing the Caped Crusader in 1989's smash hit Batman

Here's an excerpt of what Liotta told The Playlist:

When asked whether or not he’d ever auditioned for a superhero movie, Liotta revealed that he once had a unique opportunity to get in on the ground level of a promising – and ultimately hugely successful – superhero franchise. “I remember right after a movie I did, ‘Something Wild,’ Tim Burton wanted to meet me for Batman. And at that time, I said, ‘What are you kidding me? I’m an actor.’ But now it’s changed; now it’s good because if you do that you get other movies.”

How different of a movie would it have been if Ray Liotta had been The Dark Knight Detective and not Michael Keaton?  What would it have been like seeing Liotta's Batman go against Jack Nicholson's Joker?  One can only wonder, but we know that Keaton did an excellent job portraying /Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Angels are Relieving Themselves Over LA

It's raining right now in LA and for us Angelinos its sort of weird because it doesn't rain here much.  But I love when it rains; that weird smell of wet asphalt takes me back to my playground days in elementary school.  Which brings me to my point...  when it rained my mom had a strict rule for me to stay indoors to avoid getting sick, and frankly that was one rule I did not combat.  This only meant I was going to play games all day till my eyes bled.  Here is a short list of what you can play as of now while you're indoors to have a kick ass time.

First choice: Batman: Arkham City.  It's got a great story (plus the Catwoman's story is cool too), tons of hours of game play, and the Riddler challenge matches will definitely twist your noodle.

Second choice: Battlefield 3.  Campaign story is not so long but the online experience is where it's at.  I still don't get why people play COD.  The multiplayer gameplay in B3 is far more deep and intense.  You can jump into tanks, helicopters, and jets.  Need I say more?

Third Choice:  Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.  It's the game that plays like a movie???  Movie that plays like a game???  Plus you can play it next to your girlfriend and she would just think its Indiana Jones or the Twilight guy in an action movie (Drake does have that look, sort of). Bottom line: this game is "awesome" in a plastic shrink wrapped case.

So toss on your favorite pair of sweat pants, order in some chinese take out, and get your game on while the angels take care of their business over Los Angeles.  Your mom would be proud of you for being responsible with your health.

Original '89 Batman Movie Storyboard That Would Have Introduced Robin

This is an early storyboard idea of the ending for Tim Burton's Batman which includes an introduction of Dick Grayson as Robin.  What is cool about this is that they use Kevin Conroy to voice Batman in this as well as Mark Hamill to voice the Joker.  We get a glimpse of how different Burton's Batman could've been and how that would've led to a totally different Batman Returns movie.

NewsFlash! - It's Safe To Go Dodger Stadium Again!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled nerd news to bring you this:

"The Los Angeles Dodgers and Major League Baseball announced that they have agreed today to a court-supervised process to sell the team and its attendant media rights in a manner designed to realize maximum value for the Dodgers and their owner, Frank McCourt. The Blackstone Group LP will manage the sale process," the statement read in its entirety."

I know this is a geek-centric site, but I am an Angeleno and a huge Dodger fan and I couldn't contain my excitement. Yes! Frank McCourt is nearly out! It has been a long time coming but now I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. McCourt has done so much damage to the image of this franchise in the last few years that it was embarrassing to be a Dodger fan.  But I am happy and proud that all us Dodger fans stuck to our guns and boycotted the games the past 2 years.  It's a tough thing to do when you have a potential Cy Young and MVP on your team and play in such a beautiful setting such like Chavez Ravine.

So today I don't want to hear from any other cities that Los Angeles isn't a great sports town, because we have shown we are! The only thing that could make this better is that we find out that Mark Cuban wins the auction to buy the Dodgers. Until then the robot....

Long Beach Comic and Horror Con

We were on hand Saturday for the Long Beach Comic Con's fourth year of existence.  It certainly has the makings to become something very special here in Southern California.  People were having fun meeting celebrities like Seth Green and Go-Go Jane Wiedlin and comic book artists and writers like David Finch and Mark Waid.  Many that attended came dressed as their favorite hero or villain.  Good times were definitely had by all.

ThunderCats are Back!

So I was wrong. The season wasn't over. It was just on hiatus. This past Friday night the Cats, were back on Cartoon Network with the re-introduction of the Berbils, the cute electro-ewok knockoffs from the original series. I don't want spoil too much what happened in this episode for those that haven't seen it yet, but it was one of the more cutesy stories this season. It still had plenty of action and in particular, it had more Thundertank action than any of the other episodes. Good stuff!

Arkham City May Be Getting DLC That Expands the Story

In an interview with Thumb Culture, the voice for Batman, Kevin Conroy hinted on future DLC that extends that game's story after release.
The gaming now is a big, new thing. The thing about Arkham City is that it’s going to be an ongoing game. You’re going to be able to download future episodes of it, so it’s going to be going on for quite a while. I’ve been recording it for a while. So that will continue.
I wonder if the Wii U version will have all the DLC included in the game.
