All that means is Captain America is the lens through which much of the story is seen. It doesn’t mean he’s the main character. The heroes in the film — Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, and Samuel L. Jackson’s spymaster Nick Fury — carry about equal share of the movie. “You get them in a world, the world of S.H.I.E.L.D., where they fit in. And you say upfront, these are monsters. These are freaks. These are not you and me, and what are they doing here? How are they human beings?” Whedon says. “Let’s just investigate that.”
Should be cool. Here's hoping there is a balance of screen time for all the heroes or that it just doesn't feel all forced on screen.
Marvel's The Avengers hits theaters May 4.
Variety is reporting that FOX is in discussions with Chronicle director John Trank to helm a Fantastic Four reboot. It is also reporting that it is waiting to see how well Chronicle does in the box office during its Super Bowl weekend release. Fox is also waiting on Michael Green's (Green Lantern) latest draft script for the film. Tim Story directed the last two Fantastic Four films which earned a combined $260 million and starred Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Julian McMahon, and Ioan Gruffudd.

Here are five Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace 3D posters courtesy of Coming Soon. The 3D version of The Phantom Menace hits theaters February 10. Check out the other four below.
AMC has released a midseason promo poster for the return of The Walking Dead on February 12. We won't have to wait too much longer to see what ramifications (if any) there will be on the group.
Here are concept art for a cancelled steampunk style Batman game titled Gotham By Gaslight. It was being developed by Day One Studios and it was based off of the graphic novel with the same name. A steampunk Batman game would've been a cool idea.

What the heck is this? The game uses the same paint brush mechanic from Okami to attack enemies and make platforms and its a sidescroller for the Vita. I can't believe I haven't seen this one before. Another reason I must own a Vita.
I've read John Dies at the End and it's one of the weirdest, trippiest, fun books I have ever read in a long time. I hope the movie is able to capture the insanity and the trippiness that is JDatE.
Here's the official synopsis followed by the trailer.
Here is a pic of Andrew Garfield as a maskless Spider-Man in the upcoming franchise reboot The Amazing Spider-Man. I hope this isn't going to be like Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movie where Spidey was constantly losing his mask and everyone sees who he is. The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters July 3.

MAGFest was a lot to absorb at one time, so here are some cool facts about this year's MAGFest!
This year there were 6100 people in attendance at MAGFest.
There were approximately 120 arcade cabinets.
Over 2400 people filled the concert hall during Nobuo Uematsu's band, the Earthbound Papas, performed making it the largest concert that has ever been held at the Gaylord National Hotel.
The people responsible for the concert halls didn't buy the right adapters for the Earthbound Papas' equipment so in a desperate effort to make something out of nothing, one of their tech support guys made a list of adapters based on their voltage. The only one that matched their equipment was a NES power adapter which was then frankensteined onto another chord to power their pedals. That's right folks. Nobuo Uematsu played the original Final Fantasy's battle theme on a NES power adapter.

Personally, I would like to actually see this show be a Smallville spin-off. It would be great to see the characters that have already appeared in Smallville appear in a Green Arrow show and be further developed.
Other comic book characters being considered for shows The Punisher, Deadman, Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, and The Spectre.

This vid has been making the rounds the last few days. It is truly awesome. If you have a moment sit down and watch the whole thing and let your ears rejoice. Listening to Mega Man 2 music played live by Bit Brigade is straight honey! Sugary sweetness.

Every year, numerous games are released across a variety of genres and on various platforms, giving users the ability to suit their entertainment to their tastes. But as the games business has grown, it has also fallen into chaos. This is exactly why Platinum Games is my favorite developer this generation. They are one of the few developers who can make new and original games that aren't focusing on making cinematic experiences.
We are PlatinumGames Inc.
Today, the sheer number of games on the worldwide market is reaching stratospheric levels. But these numbers hide the fact that it has become increasingly difficult to create brand new titles. It's only natural that a company's business plan revolves around creating sequels to popular series. However, we dare to challenge users by developing new and exciting original titles with a level of quality that matches our name.
Platinum never tarnishes. It keeps its luster forever. It embodies our passion to create high quality games that will never disappoint. A passion we hope will garner praise and trust from our users.
While Western studios now stand in the limelight, we hope to bring Japanese games back to the forefront of player's minds.
PlatinumGames. Developers of games with lasting quality.

Ninja Theory just revealed that they will be using the same tech that was used to make James Cameron's Avatar for DmC's cutscenes.
Ninja Theory used WETA Technology for their last two games, Heavenly Sword and Enslaved.
“We do this to ensure that we’re bringing the true performances of our actors through into the game,” said Ninja’s Dominic Matthews.
“It’s not so much about realism but believability. Real actors – real people – move their hands and their body when they speak. We track the exact movement of our actors. We have 60 markers on their faces alone – on their eyes, their eyebrows, their mouths, their noses, their lips and so on.
“We are fortunate to have developed our own facial solver technology in house that allows us to track these movements and map them onto our models. Our technology is unique and something that we’ve been working on for several years, so we are ahead of the market in this regard.
“A hallmark of our games is the story-telling element. We want our users to become engrossed in a story; so we are not simply using the technology for technology’s sake. It really enriches the user experience and they become fully engaged.
“It was invigorating to shoot the scenes for the game in the same place as the Avatar shoot, using the same studios and much of the same crew.”
Gametrailers chose Uncharted 3. Click here to see their video recap for the year.
1UP chose SKYRIM. No surprise here, I can predict that this game is going to suck many game hours out of me as well. Click here to see what 1UP had to say about their pick.
In their own words "Portal 2 takes Kotaku's 2011 game of the year award for science, you monster." Read more about their decision here.
Gamespot chose Skyrim for their game of the year. Click here to see their video recap for the year.
Metacritic as you might already know is not a game review site, but they do take the scores of most of the well know game websites and averages them. So does this mean that Batman: Arkham City is the big dog or should I say big bat of this year??? Unfortunately Metacritic forgets to add some the sites listed in this post.
GiantBomb also chose Skyrim as game of the year.
Our Own Paranoid Droid
Paranoid Droid chose Dark Souls as game of the year. Here was his review.
As for myself(camp Ralfsterr)Battlefield 3, Batman: Arkham City, and Uncharted 3 were all played and completed in the course of three weeks. All three were terrific games in their own unique way, but only one of the thanksgiving trifecta within 30 minutes into the game had left an impression on me so big that it made me forget about the other two. If you hadn't figured out which game I am talking about just look up... This was not just a game, this was an experience, it had me jumping out my seat with excitement, screaming at my TV at the top of my lungs, also making me feel queasy in that crazy ship stage, and most of all my father would want to just look at me play to see the action on the screen. The story was phenomenal and riveting, the action was just superb, and the graphics were just unbelievably beautiful. So far the Uncharted series has not let me down. Naughty Dog is a powerhouse with many talented people, and I need to personally thank them for making Uncharted 3 such a pleasure to play.
The final tally for this year's game of the year 2011:
I'm into my 3rd hour of Skyrim and I can see why the inter-webs went gaga over it in 2011. Bethesda keep up the good work!!!
Running it back to the East Coast, on Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach, VA you can find Flipper McCoys! It still has a huge MVC2 crowd as well as classics like, Final Fight, Captain America and the Avengers, Time Crisis 3, Ultimate Mortal Kombat, Initial D, Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting, the list goes on and on.
Plus he also let us know about this handy-dandy site: www.arcadelocations.net. Yup, now you really have no excuses, go visit an arcade near you. It will do your little gamer heart some good.

Craigslist, as we all know, is like the local penny saver publication. The only difference is that its home is in the glorious inter-webs and it covers just about all major U.S. cities. I've used it to get jobs, find an apartment, and I recently purchased an EVO from a lovely lady that lived in Koreatown.
But since you can write just about anything on your classified ad, it seems that people took the time to get silly and very creative with what they were posting about for the world to see. I had to share this little web-gem with the 8bitspitters since it brought me a couple of laughs, it might just do the same for you.
These are the ones that made me giggle:
13 Sep 2011 - sea - Yoga mat for sale. Used once.
16 Aug 2011 - sfo - Best. Roommate. Ever.
11 Jun 2011 - inl - UGLY MEAN CAT-----FREE
26 May 2011 - dsm - Jogging Partner

Here is a lost Doors track from the L.A. Woman recordings titled "She Smells So Nice." Click HERE to read an interview Complex had with Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek on his thoughts about this long lost song. Pretty Good. Pretty Neat.
So yeah it's just a teaser. And yeah you can barely make out what's going on in the vid. But can you really go wrong with JLA and Sideshow Collectibles combining forces? Sideshow Collectibles, in my opinion, makes some of the coolest premium format statues and figures out there! They are legit! So you know this has got to be dope.

It's nothing new. They have been closing down arcades for the past 20 years or so. The Super NES and Genesis had gotten very close to arcade graphics when Street Fighter 2 was brought over to those systems. Basically, it was right around the time the Playstation and Dreamcast hit the scene that arcades where dying off. The graphics we craved for on our home consoles were the main reason that arcades started closing down.
I can't lie, its nice to turn on my system at home and have games that surpass those arcade graphics. But it's sad that so many arcades have shut down. It was a great feeling to go down to the local arcade after school and challenge a buddy or a stranger to a round of Street Fighter or drop that quarter right there at the edge of the screen where the arcade sticks meet and announce you got next. Or even jumping on a 4 player button mashing game like Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The point is that it's a bummer to see arcades go away so quietly. I spent a lot of my youth going to arcades and now a lot of younger kids won't know the joy of walking into one with an array of machines to choose from. So if you are out there feeling like I'm feeling, and know there is an arcade that is still open, go down drop a $10 spot in quarters and support your local arcade. And while we're at it, support your local comic book shop as well. They might not be there much longer.
PS. If you know a great local arcade don't be shy, post the location and name in the comment section and we can all enjoy!
