Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition PC Trailer

We get to see glorious new monsters to fight as well as a brand new area to explore. The bad thing about this is that Dark Souls PC is getting Games For Windows Live support which is garbage. GFWL is known for deleting save data at the most random times for the games they support and it takes forever to get a game ready to play. I hope that Namco Bandai is smart enough to release it with Steam support soon.
New Content:
Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will include an untold chapter in the world of Lordran where the player must stop the spread of darkness at all costs by facing and defeating the Dark Knight Artorias.
  • New Bosses - Including Artorias of Abyss, Chimera of Tomb, and more
  • PVP Online Matchmaking System - Quick matching for co-op or PVP
  • New Areas – Including Oolacile Tomb, Old Ruins and more
  • New Enemies – Including Abyss Guard, Chained Prisoner and more
  • New NPCs – Including Hawkeye Gough and more
  • New Weapons and Armor – Equip some from the new bosses, enemies, and NPCs
More details to be revealed...

I really don't want to get it on GFWL. Please release it with Steam support, Namco Bandai!

Check out this sexy new box art: Soooooo much better than the generic Assassin's Creed esque box art of the original.

Download the demo first. Check out its incredibly deep tutorial mode too. Its suppose to teach the player just about everything you need to know about fighting games in general.

8BitSpit Rant - DmC: Devil may Cry Gameplay Videos (I Hate This Game Already)

-videos courtesy of Gametrailers

Man, I thought they were going to remove those ridiculously long attack pauses on the enemies. They even show you when an enemy with a long ranged weapon is about to attack you. Weapons can be switched by holding the right trigger and pressing the X and Y buttons. The hard lock on system seems to be non-existent. Stinger and Million Stab are most likely going to be easier to perform since you can't lock on. High Time (Dante's launcher) is done with a simple press of a button now. I dislike the simpler control scheme. Just press the attack button and the game will basically pick the direction where it wants you to attack. I haven't seen a move where you have to push the control stick in any direction to do a certain move like, for example, the High Time (holding lock on > pushing the stick backwards > attack button) and the Stinger (Lock on > pushing the stick forward > attack button). This may look like DMC but you aren't inputting the same commands like a normal DMC game should.

The amount of floating I'm seeing is ridiculous. Normally in the older games, you have to work to stay up in the air for a very long time. But here you seem to float forever. It seems way too easy to get a high score in this game. The combat flow is simply not there. This is what happens when a DMC game is not running at 60fps. The art and world are the only thing I like about this new DMC. Can someone tell me how this game is called Devil May Cry? Its just mimicking it in a visual sense. Ninja Theory just doesn't get it at all. The simplistic control scheme pretty much means that this game will never reach the amount of depth and diversity and the series is known for. Well, at least it looks better than Ninja Gaiden 3 right?

DmC: Devil may Cry Captivate 2012 Trailer **UPDATE**

I'll admit that I actually chuckled at the cutscenes. Its really hard to tell if the gameplay is better than before due to the camera angle changes. I need to see that trademark brutal difficulty that DMC1 and DMC3 are known for. The animations are still pretty janky but its smoother than before. That stinger move looked very awful. It would've been much better if the game was running at 60FPS.

What's this? Did I just see an attack cancel in this trailer (1:38)?

Honestly, I like this trailer simply because of the presentation but they need to stop making those dumb camera angle changes in the trailers.

*UPDATE* Iron Man Vs. Gandhi in Iron Man 3? It's a Possibilty

Variety is reporting that Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Schindler's List) is in final negotiations to play the villain in the Shane Black directed, Robert Downey Jr. starring Iron Man 3.  Here's what Variety had to say about what role Kingsley might be playing and what the plot of IM3 might be:

Marvel declined to comment on the deal, and insiders denied that the character would be the Mandarin, a wealthy Chinese scientist and martial arts expert who, by backing the warlord who imprisoned Stark, was indirectly responsible for the creation of Iron Man.

Instead, Kingsley’s character is involved in the spread of a virus through nanobots, given that IRON MAN 3 is loosely based on Warren Ellis’ six-issue “Extremis” comicbook series first published in 2005. That arc — which also heavily influenced the first Iron Man pic — introduced a new origin story and focused heavily on nanotechnology.

What do you guys think of the potential casting?

Iron Man 3 is set for release on May 3, 2013.

Comic Book Movie (via The Hollywood Reporter) has this to say about Sir Ben Kingsley joining the cast of IM3:

"Kingsley, however, will not be the primary villain...Insiders say there is a chance Kingsley will play the Mandarin but at the same time say since the script is still being written, the character may be reconfigured for silver screen presentation."

So there is still a chance that Kingsley might be playing some sort of version of Mandarin.  I guess we'll all find out as the clock ticks closer to Iron Man 3.

Now this is something I might go see.

Boogie Read of the Week: American Vampire Vol. 1

I was at my local comic book shop early last week looking for something new to read when I came across a book I've been hearing so much about.  I've heard great things about this story so I decided to give it a shot and pick it up.  What made it easier to pick up this story wasn't the artist (even though the art is simply amazing) but the writer: Scott Snyder.  Scott Snyder is a writer that really impressed me with his take on Dick Grayson's Batman on Detective Comics and his current Batman storyline involving the Court of Owls.

So when I went looking for something new to read, American Vampire just stood out.  I've been wanting to check out Scott Snyder's other work and i've also been hearing great things about his work on AV.  And guess what?  I wasn't disappointed.  It is a great story-- that is also written in conjunction with the  legendary Stephen King-- that makes you care about the character and makes you think twice about how you should feel about the first American Vampire Skinner Sweet.

What works so well in American Vampire Vol. 1 is that you are getting two stories in one.  You have Scott Snyder working on the present (in this case the 1920s) storyline with Pearl Jones while Stephen King works on Skinner Sweet's origin story.  It just works out so well that it leaves you wanting to read the next volume to see if you should really be rooting for Sweet or hoping and praying for his death.

What Snyder, King and Albuquerque have been able to accomplish is bring back the the vampire genre back to a respectable relevance where you didn't have to worry about a teeny-bopper pale vampire glittering all over and looking as if he was dunked in mayo or was one of WWE's Sheamus' offspring.  Honestly, the fact that artist Rafael Albuquerque was able to draw both parts of the story was amazing and a great visual because of the consistency of artist. Most stories like this tend to have two artists which at times ruins the flow or slows down the pacing of the stories.  But that is definitely not the case here.  Do yourself a favor and pick up this gem.  And then pick up Snyder and Jock's Batman story Black Mirror and then pick up his current Batman arc involving The Court of Owls.

Basically, I am LOVING Scott Snyder's work on Batman and have confidence in any other project he encounters in the future.

Now go and pick up American Vampire Vol. 1 (I picked up the softcover).  I am ready for Vol. 2 to come out in softcover and see what Snyder, King and Albuquerque have in store next for America's first vampire!

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is Coming to DC in July

DC announced that writer James Robinson (Justice League: Cry for Justice, Starman) and artist Philip Tan (Batman & Robin, Spawn) will be teaming up to bring back 80s nostalgia He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in July.

Here's what MTV Geek had to say about the plot for He-Man:

As the series starts, the evil Skeletor has already won!

That's right: the skull faced arch-enemy of He-Man has figured out a way to rewrite the reality of Eternia, casting himself as the ruler of Castle Grayskull, and our heroes - including He-Man - as regular peasants with no memory of their previous life. And while simple woodsman Adam may dream of wielding a massive sword, and fighting in battles, he thinks they're just dreams. That is, until a mysterious sorceress approaches him, and sends him on an epic journey to save all of Eternia.

Sounds like a promising and very interesting storyline.  But I am weary on Robinson writing this.  I haven't really been enjoying his writings as of late but who knows.  Robinson might surprise me with his take on the people of Eternia.

Who knows. Maybe if this is successful we might see an animated series in the near future.  Perhaps going back to back with Thunder Cats.
