E3 is NEAR!

E3 is just about here kids and with it comes a bunch of new and exciting gaming stuff!  Games, consoles, announcements, previews... all of that. It will be glorious!!!  So we are gonna try to take a crack of what we think we will see at E3, what we hope to see and make one off the wall curveball prediction for each of the big 3 companies. Here we go.

Expectations: The WiiU is expected to be shown and be playable at this year's E3. A price will be announced (probably somewhere around $199-$250), a November launch date is very probable & Super Mario Bros. Mii will probably be a launch title game.  Rumors are that the WiiU specs are very close to being what the PS3 & Xbox360 currently possess (although Nintendo has been very secretive about this).  It's also been intimated that a new Pikmin, F-Zero & Smash Bros. are in the works and may be shown. The juciest rumor to have recently surfaced is that Retro Studios is working on a Metroid/Starfox crossover game.

Hope: It's all about the games and for Nintendo to get back on track it needs to bring their A-titles back.  I hope the rumors are true about Pikmin, F-Zero & Smash Bros., but I also hope that the tech demo of Legend of Zelda shown at last year's E3 is an actual game in the works. I also hope Nintendo has learned their lesson about 3rd party support and brings with them some of the hardcore games that have been missing from Nintendo consoles for years now. To have that, they will need a more powerful console than the current generation of hardware that is out there now so that they can keep up today but also have a long shelf life.  They must make a better effort to get online and quick.  They must also get more downloadable games to their online experience. This to me is where Sony & Microsoft kills Nintendo.  Sony and Microsoft don't just have great games you can purchase at the store but they give you games like Castle Crashers that can be downloaded. Nintendo must try to make their online experience open to indie developers.

Curveball Prediction: There will be a new Starfox game finally and a new Pokemon console game! w00t!

Skuhl Leader

Expectations:  Halo 4 Details are going to be heavy for this year's E3, from multi-player to actual storyline plot points, and game footage.  But I have a feeling they might be stingy with this footage because they know we are eating off their grubby little hands.  It would only bring more hype to Halo if they actually show a lot of footage of the story.  And of course, Microsoft will show more Kinect shenanigans that no one cares two s@#ts about.

•  An announcement that the Xbox will eradicate all of Microsoft Points system and switch to real currency.
•  Hope to see the new rumored Gears of War in action.

Curveball Prediction:  Durango (codename for the next Xbox) info.  Specs, design of the actual console, possible date of final product, or Special Halo 4 bundle package.

- Ralfsterr

Expectations:  I hope to see very little of The Move style games that they try so hard to shove down our throats.  The Wii has that covered (The Last of Us.... Need I say more).  Yes, we have all seen the ultra awesome trailers to the next Naughty Dog's new IP, but we are short of any footage of actual gameplay.  That goes the same for the up coming Smash Bros. Sony doppledanger .  I want a bit of more info on that.

•  To see a juicy and plentiful peep of Revengeance's gameplay footage (no more trailer animations).
•  God of War details!!!  Any sliver of information would make me have a nerd-gasm for any of these two Intellectual Properties.

Curveball Prediction:  Orbis (code name for the PS4) Info.  Specs, design of the actual console, possible date of final product.  I'll take any of that info to make me one happy panda.

Metal Gear Rising: Reveangeance E3 2012 Trailer - Now With Gifs!

The best game ever made. This trailer proves it. A playable demo will be included in the Zone of the Enders HD Collection! I must have it! There's more footage and an interview with the developers in the Pre E3 Press Conference. I'm waiting for Konami to release the glorious 60FPS version of the trailer. I want to see those super smooth animations.

This is my most hyped game now. I can't wait to play it. I don't care about any other action games coming out this or next year. These guys can have my money. Here's some gifs from the trailer made by the guys at NeoGAF.

New Dark Souls Content Coming to Consoles

Namco Bandai just announced that the new content coming to PC will be available to download for PS3 and Xbox 360 this Winter. The DLC will cost $15 through PSN and 1200 points through XBL.

The PC version will be available on August 24th. You can download this game through Steam and Games for Windows Live. It doesn't say if the Steam version will support Steamworks instead of GFWL but I doubt it will support Steamworks. A retail version of Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition will be coming to consoles as well this Winter.

Game Trailer: Hitman: Absolution-- Evil Nuns!

Movie Trailer: Les Miserables

So Who is the Villain in Iron Man 3?

Well it's none other than James Badge Dale (24)!  Who?  Well that's the actor that will be playing Eric Savin who, in the world of comics, becomes the evil cyborg Coldblood.  It seems that director Shane Black will instead be using Savin as the villain who will be wearing the Iron Patriot armor first seen and worn in the comics by Spider-Man nemesis (and overall douche) Norman Osborn during his time in The Dark Avengers.  And seeing that Osborn is part of the Spidey-movie world, there was no chance that it would be Osborn donning the patriotic armor.  How Savin comes to be in the armor is anyone's guess at this point (mostly because Iron Man 3 is still early on in filming and the script has been kept mostly under wraps) but it should be interesting to see an all out battle between Ol' Shellhead and the Iron Patriot.  Who knows, maybe he does end up as Coldblood with Iron Patriot parts melded unto him.  We'll just have to wait and out.

New Images from The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 DC Animated Movie

Super Hero Hype! (via The Hollywood Reporter) has some new images from the upcoming DC animated movie The Dark Knight Returns Part 1.  Here is how the movie is described:

The Dark Knight Returns is set in a near future where Batman is retired and Gotham City has slid into a dystopian state ruled by a gang of hooligans called The Mutants. The 55-year old Bruce Wayne is forced to don the cape once more, this time partnering with a female Robin to not only stop the Joker but keep the peace when the city falls into chaos after being hit by an electromagnetic pulse.

8BitSpit Rant: Avengers Isn't the Best Movie of All Time!

I went to go see The Avengers at the midnight screening the first day it came out.  I was hyped!  The commercials, teasers and trailers had me on overload.  Then the reviews started to trickle in and I was sold!  This was the most epic comicbook-- nay, the most epic epicness of epictastic epic to ever have epicked!  EVER!  How can you go wrong, right?

Did I watch the same movie as everybody else?  I thought the movie was good fun. There was some great action moments, hilarious one-liners and all.  I do think that the movie suffered from too many one-liners, so much so that it affected how much real trouble our heroes were in.  For a moment I thought I was seeing a comedy rather than a action packed comicbook film.  There were moments in the film that were supposed to have a serious tone to it, (Agent's Coulson's Death), that fell flat because it was as if our heroes were on the verge of delivering another joke.  The first half of the movie was pretty mediocre, too.  I don't know that there was much that stood out.

Having said that, any scene the Hulk was in was great and the last battle was really awesome.

But you have read our review and others too.  It was good a summer movie. What really grates my cheddar almost a whole month after it premiered, is the thought that The Avengers is instantly the best movie of all time when that is just not true.  Did we all forget Spider-Man? The Dark Knight?  These movies had no drop off.  They were funny when needed, serious when warranted and great films from beginning to end.

So while The Avengers was a great fun movie let's not lose our minds here.  Don't believe the hype.

Toonami Returns and it is a Part of Adult Swim

Toonami came back last night as part of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim's Saturday night block. Steve Blum (Wolverine, Spike Spiegal) returns to voice Tom as the host of Toonami. They currently have two new cartoons airing on Toonami, Deadman Wonderland (@ 12: 30 AM) and Casshern Sins (@ 1 AM). They even brought back game reviews

Hopefully they can get amazing shows such as Baccano! or Darker Than Black Season 1 to air on Toonami soon. I'm sure people that haven't watched anime before or just couldn't get into them would love those two. I sure as hell did. Toonami will rerun old episodes of Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Bleach (stay far, far away from this pile of garbage) and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Just in case you missed it, here's Casshern Sins Episode 1 courtesy of Funimation

Toonami was created back in 1997 as part of Cartoon Network's action oriented block. Back then they used to air old Hanna-Barbara cartoons, Dragon Ball, Gundam, Batman: TAS, and ReBoot. This used to be part of my childhood and I'm glad its back.

Game of Thrones Season 2 Kill List

It's Sunday, you know what that means?  Game of thrones NIGHT!!!  Also if you didn't know by now, it's in its last episodes of season 2.  Skhul Leader and I are in the middle of a little friendly wager to see who is going to die and who will be king of the Iron Throne by the end this season.  So we both came up with 5 hopefully unlucky characters that will bite the dust and 1 to see who would be the top medieval dawg.  And this preview video only fueled our enthusiasm:

Here are our picks starting with my self:
1.  Joffrey Baratheon
2.  Shae
3.  Theon Greyjoy
4.  Jaime Lannister
5.  Melisandra
KING PICK:  Robb Stark

Here are Skhul Leaders picks:
1.  Theon Greyjoy
2.  Shae
3.  Bron
4.  Joffrey Baratheon
5.  Catelyn Stark
KING PICK:  Joffrey Baratheon

If you noticed we have some similar picks, that's why we have the final king option as a tie breaker.
